This version of silent night only appeared on a charity album for a California childrens hospital in 1991. It was recorded in a 1991 session with Frank Sr. on vocals and Frank Jr. playing the piano. It would remain unreleased in general circulation until 2008 when it was included in a new Sinatra Christmas repackaging. Unfortunately the 2008 remix is heavily orchestrated and loses the intimacy of the original recording.

This is the original 1991 release and is extremely rare.

  • Frank Sr. could manage to sound so sensitive in his mid 70's. Frank Jr. should

have accompanied his dad way before this. Jr. has a great piano touch.

  • This is beautiful. But then again, so was Frank Sinatra.

  • I heard he was very ill during this time period but it makes this emotional reading even more special!!

  • brings a tear to my eye

  • This is so special, FS sings "Angels quake, 'they' quake at the sight". When the tape was remastered they left out "they" as it was not written that way and also added an orchestra. When will they learn not to meddle with a touching poignant reading by a master musician at the end of his career. Truly something special....JL

  • lovely touching song, the master singing as age sets in his voice and really touching piano playing by jnr.this should be released for christmas no 1.instead of that x factor crap.this is how its done.

  • Thank you, a special recording by a truly special man.

  • ALWAYS MAKES ME CRY, R.I.P.MR. SINATRA

  • his last recorded song before Duets albums, touching

  • omg yes
