  • I can't listen to this video all the way through; I stopped at 0:29, it's that painfull.

What turned me off was the classic "libertarian" fallacy: that *everyone* can be an "entrepreneur". It's logistically impossible. Thorsmitersaw's vision, along with that of the likes of David D. Friedman, of a world were everyone is their own boss is absolutely absurd and unrealistic. I actually consider it quite insulting and depressing really: that their ideal is a world of economic hermitry.

  • lets look over the list of assumptions and strawmen:

assumption that I like Friedman - *check*

    atomism - *check*

misunderstanding of libertarian entrepreneurship - *check*

    yup. you're a jackass

  • I liked the last line, spot on.

mr1001nights though...don't expect him to listen, he'll just retreat back to the buzzwords of "wage slavery."

  • he supposedly has some sort of mod status with the wage slavery article on wikipedia. I have asked him to add brad spanglers take on it several times

  • you have a nice arguement, butyou keep forgeting is that freedom is slavery. so a free market is automatically a slave market.

  • @mmuldoor The gov't and "established economic interests" participate in a giant circle jerk. gov't helps out big business who in turn helps them stay in power. It's called fascism. This in no way represents how a true free market would work.

  • @ThePsychoticnut And I suppose that the government imposed this on established businesses, and not vice versa? Give me a break! Govt is just an intermediary for established economic interests.

  • this reminds me of Kevin Carson, he's a Mutualist but on these topics he has a very similar analysis to that of Agorists.

I recommand especially his latest book "Homebrew Industrial Revolution: A Low Overhead Manifesto"

  • @thorsmitersaw "assumption that I like Friedman" I put you in the same league as Friedman, not that you *were* a Friendmanite

"atomism" Nope, no idea what you're getting at.

"misunderstanding of libertarian entrepreneurship" What the hell's to misunderstand? Either you're twisting words to the extent they become meaningless, or you're appealing to unrealistic or disengenuous ideals.

  • True dat. I'm a syndicalist/anarchist. The libertarians are a tad wacko...

  • So he is being deceptive?
