  • Guys, you're all entitled to your opinions, but please remember I'm by no means a pro, nor am I claiming to be one. I'm was self taught for 7 years, and only recently began taking proper lessons.

  • Sounds a half step down? Or is that just cos of the video quality?

  • I had set the digital tuning down to sound a bit antique.

  • Pretty bad, try reading more than just the notes.

  • care to elaborate? I know its not perfect, but you seem to know something that no one else knows. Please share.

  • Sure, although you'll probably delete my comment.

First, you use none of the forte-piano dynamics in the beginning of the Grave section. And when you get to the part in E Flat Major your tempo increases quite a bit.

During the Allegro exposition you stay on tempo but just play it sloppily.

In the second theme your mordents are pretty good and clearly executed but your pedal usage is distracting.

Just remember that precision counts on these kinds of pieces. It's a very hard piece to perfect

  • Duly noted, thanks for explaining.

  • I like it, I think you are brave, talented, just need more refinements in tempo and dynamics.

As self-taught it is very commendable achievement to play this great piece. I was very impressed. I think you have good hands, good agility and good attitude!

  • You sounded awesome man, I would try some more passion but the I think I have the same problem for I just trying to get it right first which you have :D

  • I think it's not that bad. Actually, I think it's pretty good especially for a self-taught pianist with no one to explain all the technicalities of music. Good job. No kidding :)

  • Poorly

  • quite good. Its a digital keyboard you won't ge the dynammics try a grand piano next time,.

  • for self taught i though it was good i am learning this just now self taught ok it might not sound as good as a profesional playing it but hey i just play to friends so the dont know the difference but i do like to get it as right as i can.

if am stuck on a bit i wil listen to some on you tube to help get it right or as close i dont bother if its not perfect i only play for my self or some frinds at times

  • I thought you were very good. I am just taking proper piano lessons after almost 10 years. Great job! in fact, Amazing job!

  • i would be very happy if i could play this piece like his interpretation ... :)

  • continued from previous... I am more impressed when someone can take a piece or a pop tune and (w/o music)... say My Life (Billy Joel (not a fan just popped into my head)) and perform it as a Russian Funeral Dirge... and do it on the fly by request and still play Franz List. I just realized that my comments are out of sequence... oh well.

  • continued from previous - ...a true dichotomy of sorts; although I find this prevalent with a lot of "classically trained" folks. They're so obsessed with the details of pieces (while I would say this is important for virtuosos and has its merits - I doubt true virtuosos would be critiquing on YOUTUBE) and are quick to point out the mistakes of us "commoners", they seem to miss the point of enjoyment.
