I'm a white student, and I know plenty of white students that do not want to attend a school with a majority of people that are, lets say, black, asian or whatever. I cannot think of any advantages a diverse school offers, only disadvantages.
segregation of schools today exists, as whites move away from the black neighbors and no sane white parent would send their child to a majority black school. Desegregation was and is a failure, and racial inflammation in the US will continue.
I think it is also important to know that having race as a tiebreaker (which was third to siblings and distance), benefits both students of color and white students. We all need to learn how to work, communicate, and appreciate people from all ethnic and racial backgrounds who are reflected in our city.
Heres an example of the extreme segregation schools face by using the "natural" location placement. Seattle Public Schools are 40% white and 60% of color. My school is over 70% white. This is more than a slight inequality.
This guy is an idiot. I live in Seattle and attend public high school. The "natural" segregation of our city is due to the historical and current racial and income discrimination. The "reverse racism" argument is wack. White parents started this campaign because they don't want their white kids attending schools with a lot of students of color.
WHAT?oh my -total socialist -the ends justify the means-weve tried socialism before -Hitler-Mussolini-Lenin,the term NAZI comes from national socialism, you are advocating racism to eliminate racism-what a joke!
Breyer's comments were on point. People who support this decision have a limited view of how the law operates in theory versus practice. Demographic integration is one of many checks & balances on a system that doesn't function like the constitution demands. This decision eliminates an important check on the anomaly that exists between "all me are created equal" & the natural segregation that exists in the demographics of most school districts.

Segregating the poor from the rich and denying them educational equality seems to be the American way doesn't it ?
