Preview of my upcoming game - a remake of the Commodore 64 game Spindizzy.

Updates and discussion can be found at NEXUS REALMS:
http://www.nexusrealms.co.uk/showthread.php?6-Spindizzy-Dimensions-%28C64-Spi...

The game is built in the Iso-Realms engine; custom built by me for this project and similar games The game is cross-platform and will be available for Linux, Windows and MacOS X. Both the project and the game are open source under the GPLv3 licence.

The Iso-Realms engine is a modular plugin framework for maximum customizability, and a graphical "WYSIWYG" editing tool for building new maps and new projects.

The development project is currently hosted on SourceForge at https://sourceforge.net/projects/spindizzyremake/

The music was also made by me. It will probably be replaced in the final release.

  • This is looking fabulous! Will the game have trackball or mouse support? Also I would love to play this on my arcade cabinet, when its finished of course, would you please consider remapping of all keyboard inputs as a feature. Many Thanks and keep up the excellent work, I can't wait ;)

  • @fouloneUK Controls will be customizable, but Trackball control is probably out of the question for practical reasons.

Some areas in HangWorld require you to accelerate to high speed in a perfectly straight line over the length of several screens and hit a jump at an exact correct speed. Can you imagine trying to pull off a stunt like that using a trackball?

  • Loving the progress so far but I'd love for the music in this video and in Preview 4 to remain in the game as IMHO they're beautiful pieces.

  • @MotorBug2005 Thanks. :)

The music from Preview 4 was made by a friend; it was never really finished (it just stops abruptly after a couple minutes). I'd like to keep it, but I would need to get my friend to finish it, which isn't likely to happen to be honest, since he probably no longer has the master tracks for it and I don't see him often any more.

  • Looks great! I spent countless hours playing Spindizzy, and I always wondered how it would look like with scrolling graphics. The nearest I came to this was a map drawn on grid paper...

  • Looking very nice and very faithful to the original....this was a pig to play on the CPC464! And, if you want musical compositions for this game then give me a shout....I have full studio and the time to compose you some nice looping tracks...

  • I was never a big fan from Spindizzy but you remake looks really great! :)

    Keep Up you great work!

  • fucking good game :D

  • Can you PLEASE post a compiled version of the beta so far? I really wanna check this game out myself, but you've only got the source code on your SF page and I don't know a thing about building programs from their source.

  • I want to play this game so badly. For years I've been wondering about a remake of Dizzy. It just seemed like the perfect platform puzzle game.

Will there be a version closer to SpinDizzy Worlds with bigger, more open maps?

  • were can i get that? when its done can you call me? beacouse im waiting soo much.

  • Great! Can't wait to play with it!
