i dont think he was trying to skid, he panic on the turn and applied both brakes, but accidently locked up the rear. You can tell he was going down alot faster than the other riders.

Nope... just a sharp turn on a quick road section between the Uphill and the Downhill sections of the race... many went too fast down that hill and were then surprised by the sharp turn to pop back on the trail.
