I think there should be faces of all the world's leaders up there...and please add some "horns" to each one? lol...I know it's not funny, but it's so ludicrous! Without doubt, many of man's actions have been well intended. But as is so often the case, we simply do not know enough about the environment to predict the consequences of our actions accurately. The results have been devastating!!!

It is quite sad to know that the Amazon was not protected from this problem of deforestation. I think it is the best time that we take action and stop the continuous deforestation of the Amazon rain forest as well as other forest's in the world.

@LFabiano09 The USA is an easy target. If Brazil did not have markets in north America and Europe then the financial desire to destroy the forest would not exist.

@LFabiano09 Responsibility dictates that of the 3% for timber production that it should be replaced by the same trees. As for the 97% this is due to a large extent for food production while the EU has mountains of unused food getting spoiled and going to waste - although it continues to import cheaper food. The common agricultural policy is no small part bears a great deal of responsibility.

I didn't mean it that way, I meant it as one of those generic comments you see, always the same thing "americas fault". I was just reading an article last week in a magazine I stole from my dentist. I think it was maybe peru? they were getting land for cutting down forests. I could eb wrong on the location though.
