@MrFlyersFreak It's an effective defense, that's like going to the NFL and saying oh no you can't stack the box because it might work. It's part of the game, deal with it, I blame the flyers for pissing and moaning about.

This was the most boring 30 seconds of my life, but the flyers did what was right. fuck the lightning
-
FUCKING lightning got a taste of their medicine.

@himmmaaa in the south you mean :(

@crony5000 and more hitting . . . bigger rinks mean much less contact
-
Start off by saying im not a fan of either team but what the Flyers did was a complete joke. what kind of professional athlete does that? youre a professional! beat their defense, play the game. you cant just quit.

@crony5000 its not as simple as thinner rink more seats. its a different game. a more entertaining one if you ask me. allows for more forcheck and faster pace

@familybc146 And also, the NBA playoffs are so freaking predictable. Teams can't win games on the road and rely solely on their home-court. In the NHL, there's more parity, teams can comeback from 3-1 and 3-0 series deficits. It happens every year. When's the last time a team came back from a 3-1 series deficit in the NBA playoffs. At least in the NHL playoffs, anything can happen. Best teams don't always win. And that's more entertaining in my book, and I'm a black guy.

@familybc146 The NBA used to be popular, like 10 years ago, with great shooting and physical defense. But now it's full of one and done players who can't shoot to save their lives, have no understanding of the team concept and are constantly getting into trouble with the law. Not to mention, the NBA has turned as soft as the NFL, when it comes to physicality. You can't breath on a guy now, without it being called a foul.

@jbobbster No...actually all those are more popular sports on TV because people like watching them more. That and because fans grow up playing those games more so than Hockey.
For the NHL to be more popular they have to make sure the game is not a bore-fest. The NHL cannot
afford this mistake like some other sports. (MLB quickly comes to mind) Of course they'll still watch it in Canada.....
Only way to beat the 1-3-1... Build European sized rinks. NHL RINK = 200 feet (61 m) × 85 feet (26 m) INTERNATIONAL RINK = 61 metres (200 ft) × 30 metres (98 ft) Those extra 13 feet make a huge difference. Can clog up the zone when it's that wide. Sad thing is NHL cares more about ticket sales than game integrity. Thinner Rink = More seats.
