I get chills when I hear the original version of the "Think Music". This takes me back to when I was a kid, carefree, and living in New York.

the original Jeopardy! theme was called "Take Ten" and was composed by Merv's then wife Julann.

They were erased because tapes of that era took up a lot of storage space and also to save money by reusing them.

I watched it nearly every day in the 60s and 70s. It sure evokes fond memories.
This is classic tv. Why did NBC erase the tapes?

Merv Griffin reportedly wrote the Jeopardy theme (which he entitled "The Thinking Song") in about 20 minutes and earned more than $80 million from it during his lifetime.
I appreciate having this available. Considering how NBC -- in its infinite wisdom -- erased all video copies of most programming, I'm grateful we can get just a few minutes of this classic program. So many memories here.
