William (Bill) Neal served in the Army during WWII in Athens, Sicily, England, France, Germany, and Belgium. He was part of the battles of D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, the crossing of the Rhine River, and the Black Forest. He survived all of that, but was blinded on the last day of the war by drinking poisoned vodka.
