This 1982 Coles Express TV ad ( 1 minute ) was run in the mid-1980s showing after deregulation why you should ship with Coles Express. Nice video footage of Cole's fleet of Ford Trucks and trailers.
Coles Express was a LTL (less-than-truck load) truck freight carrier started in 1917 and continued through 1997.
Taken from the Coles Express Archives at the Cole Land Transportation Museum.
they never went bankrupt, merged into Viking end of 1996, all Viking east of the rockies closed down april 1997. What was left of the company along with their sister companies ( Roberts Exp, RPS and Caliber logistics) was sold to fed ex in 1998. Viking became Fed Ex Freight West, RPS became Fed Ex Ground. They later bough American freightways to complete Fed Ex Freight.

What ever happened with Coles was it bought out or did it just go out of bussiness?

They were sold to Roadway Services and operated by Viking Freight. They were later shut down in 1997.
