GENIAL BEETHOVEN

@KatShaw162 soloists almost always play from memory. Sviatoslav Richter has a score in front of him because he once had a memory lapse, but nobody else does. Anyway, Beethoven was a phenomenal improviser, and if he deviated from the written score, (a) who would know?, and (b) it would be authentic anyway, however he played it. Beethoven's genius doesn't consist of being able to do parlour tricks.
