My partially built chicken coop. Most of the material is used pallets that I got for free and tore apart. I plan on using wadded up newspaper to insulate it.

  • Looks like Safety Sally found my channel.

You people need to relax. Obsessing about trivial stuff will lead to hypertension.

Best piece of advice I can give you if you're considering using palates to build a coop; don't use palates to build a coop. Spend a few bucks, get some 1X at the lumber yard, and save a TON of time. I do recommend the hardi backer though. You can repeatedly hose it off and it doesn't rot. Good stuff.

No foam insulation, though. Turns out chickens LOVE Styrofoam.

  • Anyone using pallets to build something need to think about what was on those pallets, dangerous chemicals could have been spilled on them and you would never know it. Better to avoid using them regardless of the fact that they are free.

  • looks very dangerous. remember water and electricity do not mix well.
