An originally intended perfect world with created creatures to suit that world would not need to reproduce, except in cases where one could argue pleasure was the main motivator. It seems unlikely that "lower" order animals (e.g., ants, fruit flies, worms, etc.) reproduce for the purposes of gaining sexual pleasure from copulation. So, it would seem that reproduction's primary function is to facilitate genomic change in a population over time.

I really appreciated your argument from 6:23 - 6:41. I found it to be quite thought provoking. Sexual reproduction is the changing of genotype in a population through successive pairings of gametes as well as occasional genetic mutations causing a gradual change in genetic pool of the population of a species. At least, that is what I understand it to be. Creatures would need not to reproduce in a young earth model without death because every creature would be already suited to its environment.
