@mrstaggman1 if you dont mind my jumping in here, perhaps they do not have a true conscious, but they will later on. if someone could go back in time and kill you when you were an embreo, would you be okay with that? you didn't have consciousness. you wouldn't know what was happening.

I'm IVF. Ask me if I care.

@TheSophication However they weren't and never would have been sentient

@mrstaggman1 Then, by your logic, it should be perfectly fine to lop off a paralyzed person's legs because they can't feel it. Or maybe you'd argue that they still have emotions, in which case if someone were killed by lethal injection while they slept, and as long as they didn't know it, it would be fine because they didn't feel any pain, and they couldn't be sad because they didn't realize it was happening.
-
@lolmymag However, although I do repect your opinion, embryos do not have consciousness so do not actually know what is happening, and so dont feel pain, so why should we not use them which have been made for their stem cells, to save other people? but yes it would be wrong to kill a seven or eight year old for science I believe because they know the world and have feelings and emotions.

The thing is, even if you make an embryo with the intent of using him/her for science, you're still creating a human life and then destroying it. It's creating humans just for research, and how is that different from raising the embryo to a young age (like seven or eight) and then killing him/her for science? If people choose to give their lives for science, that's their choice and that's fine. But nobody can make that choice for somebody else, no matter how good their intentions are.

I think I missed the bacon

So if these embryonic stem cells replicate, why do we have to get so many of them? Why can't we just have a stock amount, and then use the excess for research?

@toin9898 no more like a professional tv show that's a blog, than this "im making money from this company and in return im going to give you really sloppily produced videos" but i really don't mean to hate i do love you dan and you are a cool guy

@warriorsfan12331 yes read about chimeric mice and induced pluirpotent stem cells being used to make embryos that grow into full on mice
plants are alive and we kill them all the time.
