This is a great video! There were several suggestions especially valuable, because they are less obvious, but will make a difference. Using your present salary to guess a GS-level to target (after you've picked a city to look at) is a good way to get to a list of jobs, and then search through the job titles (which may be different from your present job), and looking for promotion potential, and learning and memorizing the Mission statement for interview and cover letter. Thanks! ~ Lee Patterson

This was a very informative and enlightening overview of the federal hiring process. It covered all of the main questions that a lay person (and frankly even someone beyond that level) would have.
I paid special attention to the portion that explained how a Private Industry person would try to identify how their skill sets translate/transfer into the federal government and also the value of submitting a cover letter (since a supervisor might ultimately read it). Sally London

Hi Barrie, I really love your questions. I think we did a great job of describing a really complicated federal job process! I like this and will recommend this to ANYONE who is searching for a federal job. These 29 minutes could really help a federal job seeker. We covered federal resume strategies for Veterans, Students, First-timer applicants, USAJOBS, how to stand out, accomplishments ... and my original business start-up story! Thanks Barrie!
