Mary Oliver, a Pulitzer Prize winner, writes fluent imagery weaving together the worlds of humans, animals, and plants. Wild Geese is a favorite. You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees.....

  • Thank you. You have created such beautiful, creative imagery to share. Her poems remind me of the essential and how important it is to live in the present, embrace the natural world, quiet the mind, to be free and clear in thought and intent.

I am having back surgery in 1 week. I am afraid but my spirit is at peace.

  • @mypaldak5 Thank you for your note about Mary, and her work.

I am keeping you in my thoughts as you progress through the

effects of your operation. I know the feelings associated with

recoveries and there are days it's nice to know that even a

stranger keeps you in his daily thoughts. Recover quickly!

  • Again, thank you. You have created beautiful gifts to share. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I had the spinal fusion and am recovering at home now. Often, the pain is intense, but I try not to let my spirit get carried away with it. Call it Taoism, Zen or just getting to the essential, as Mary O. does. From Wild Geese: "Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on." This poem is by my bedside. It keeps me connected, keeps me grounded.

  • Very nicely done. Very respectful to Oliver's voice and words. Beautiful. Thank you for you obvious labor of love.

  • An excellent video for this moving poem! Thanks again for your wonderful work tresureleaf!
