Steve Perry was a 23-year-old law student from Charlottesville, Virginia who appeared in the hot seat on April 22, 2001 and coasted through his first 14 questions effortlessly without using a lifeline, joining million dollar winners John Carpenter and David Goodman as the only ones to do so. He got hung up on his $1,000,000 question and couldn't pull the trigger, but still, $500,000 isn't that bad.

This is part 1 of his run from his fastest finger question to his $1,000 question.

Edit - 4/25/07: I recently posted Matt Marcotte's $250,000 run from November 20, 1999 where he used Steve Perry as a phone-a-friend on the $250,000 question. Steve mentioned Matt in this video here and said that he received a laptop computer for coming through on that question. :)

  • Oh god, I'm dying of laughter after Perry wins the fastest finger. When he gets up, he looks like he's about to smash Regis' face in.

  • Wow, that first question is way too stupid even by Millionaire $100 question standards.

  • Only in America could someone give you $100 for knowing that Hat rhymes with Fat.

  • that first question was pretty tough

  • haha, yeah! I was going to say "I'd like him a lot if he just started singing 'Don't Stop Believing' when he's unsure of an answer to a question"

  • lol but that's in Blacksburg

  • omg i actually thought it was the guy from journey damn lol

  • I felt like punching him when he started throwing his fist like he's already won.

  • Personality

  • He's not from Charlottesville, he's from Jackson, Mississippi with that accent

The accent spoken in that Charlottesville town is really northern sounding like the accent spoken in Michigan.

  • Ok the first question was WAAAYYY to easy. Who looks at that and thinks dish tree or large pizza rymes with fat??

  • $200, way off I-95; that's one of the best "choice D." jokes lol
