  • la scotto fa sempre questi "fischietti" sugli acuti (4:12) - non si possono sentire: peggio mi sento con i sovracuti ...

  • @bettiniroma ce ne fossero di soprani come la Scotto (che è una signora cantante)

  • Extraordinarily rare Scotto excerpt.. Pirates of Carribean never sought or found such treasures amongst golden baubles.

  • @robertdonkers You cannot possibly mean that Souliotis was made for Abigaille? That was the role she wrecked her voice with. You can hear it when she sings it as well, it is simply to big for her. She struggles and strains her voice. Souliotis singing Rossini on the other hand, well that is something else!

  • prego nonrispondere questi cretini diletanti, che non sarano mai ne anche il papeleti da toaletto da scotto, lascia perdere.....

  • magnifica!!!

  • BRAVISSIMAAAAAAAAA!

  • @pkunzip501 I prefer the real thing rather than enhanced studio recordings for sure. Might as well have pop singers singing operas and enhance it in such a way that is sounds half decent. Too many great singers are forgotten or ignored by the record companies simply because they are not commercial enough to record. They rather use unsuitable commercially famous voices provided that the record companies get the sales. And boy do these voices disappoint live in the theatre

  • @robertdonkers U r entitled to your opinion! I still cherish Margaret Price's Isolde and LPrice's In Questa Reggia.I don't discount how thrilling Dimitrova was in Nabucco: first at LaScala with Muti & with OONY, her NY debut. She was born to sing roles like that! Re: Callas. IMHO she was the best but not the best in everything: Manon Lescaut for example. However,I am never trading that one in either for its many insights. I like to collect various approaches. IMHO, there is still much to enjoy.

  • @pkunzip501 I know that but as the great stars of days gone bye said about her "she gives everything and everything she does not have, she screams and screams". Not my words.

I rather had a soprano record the role who could perform it wonderfully on stage too without the enhancement of the studio. I know I know, Calls did not perform everything on stage either but then she was the best.

  • @robertdonkers There is still much to admire in her Abigaille even if there are some hi C's beyond her comfort zone.I am not throwing it out in lieu of these other ladies.Neither Muti nor Scotto ever dreamed of her singing it on stage. The cavatina is still gorgeous; the voice moved thrillingling where Souliotis, etc. couldn't cope: for instance, the ascending trills to the cabaletta "Salgo gia".The duet with Nabucco is mind blowing in her powerful word pointing. Its all about STYLE & COLORATION.

  • @pkunzip501 Yes, Scotto can sound divine and simply awful at times. She is however a very exiting artist singing roles which were not always associated with her voice type. Think of her screaming Abigail and compare that to the controlled singing of Dimitrova, Tinsley or Souliotis, singers with the right type of voice for that repertoire.

    Can't help loving Scotto though.

  • ecco la mia preferita, grande, bravissima
