  • Key is kept captive so no one can take it out if they aren't supposed to, but when the owner is leaving and wants a double cylinder deadbolt (like on this glass door) the captive key can be removed. The security of a double cylinder, life safety of a single when home is occupied.

  • I feel like an idiot for asking but what is the reason for the captive function? Thx
