Hard to Say Goodbye ~ Jack/Cutler

YAY!!! I'm drunk on Ice Tea again!!!

Post-AWE video. Jack is consumed by thoughts of Cutler after his death. Jack remembers the good and bad times, he remembers how they used to laugh together and how happy they were for a short time. But then, after a few glorious days together he stole some important papers from Cutler (I'm too tired to ask Jack why exactly he needed them). He wanted to return to his lover but Cutler felt betrayed, arrested Jack soon and branded him a pirate. The rest we all know... years later they meet again and it ends with Cutler being killed by Jack's canons.

The ending is ambiguous. You can either interpret it as Jack missing Cutler so much that he imagines him being actually there, or as Cutler really being alive because somehow he could escape... I like the first better, but I'm weird like that and can't really do happy endings...

Oh My God... I think out of all the fan videos i have seen between Speckett... That this is the most Beautiful out of all of them, it seemed so real, so dramatic, but not too dramatic. Beckett's character is a very unique one, has is Jack's. They were well aware of the benefits of all things going on in the last two movies... But as I said, that was beautifully made...

Thank you, I absolutely loved making this. It's strange I only have one (purely) Speckett video even though I'm completely devoted to the pairing. Oh well, maybe there will be some more later. lol

Cutler and Jack have always despised each other, and you have to remember that Cutler is a greedy sociopath. Everyone is afraid of Beckett. Even Davy Jones was a little intimidated by him. The closest thing he had to a friend was Mercer, and he was his personal assassin. Cutler is a eunuch, I think. If he is, then that would explain a lot. On the other hand, pirates spend long times at sea. We'd have to assume that the whole lot of them were gay for each other. Especially Will Turner

Thank you for sharing your opinion, but I don't agree with you on many things. I sincerely believe that no one is born evil and programmed to hurt others, certain circumstances make people turn into something they wouldn't have wanted. And I think this is the case with Cutler. I truly believe that partly his upbringing (the greedy part) and partly Jack's betrayal made him turn out the way he is in the movies. You don't have to agree, I understand if you don't, but that's my interpretation.

And even if you were right, I mean if the writers told us exactly what has happened in the past, this is a fan vid. It is about turning this story into something new, something that is partly my own. I don't have to follow canon, this is another world, only mirroring the other. But thank you again, for sharing your opinion. :)

Oh god, that was beautiful! I'm quite partial to the second interpretation of the ending, but both are very... chills down your spine-ish. Yes, I have wonderful command of the english language... *eyeroll*

thegreatgatsby, I would have to disagree with your interpretation, although I could see why your thought processes lead you to your conclusion. I personally see Beckett as a man who had his heart broken - badly - by Jack Sparrow. His "mission" is now to kill all pirates. Coincidence? If he can't have what he loves desperately, he is willing to kill it so that no one else can have it. That is why his behavior toward Jack is so intense. No hatred without scorned love first.
