A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At it's core Jesus' gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification. Religion is man centered, Jesus is God-centered. This poem highlights my journey to discover this truth. Religion either ends in pride or despair. Pride because you make a list and can do it and act better than everyone, or despair because you can't do your own list of rules and feel "not good enough" for God. With Jesus though you have humble confident joy because He represents you, you don't represent yourself and His sacrifice is perfect putting us in perfect standing with God the Father.

But, you see, he had to come back to life to show that he was powerful and great and so that people would actually believe that he was God, because no human had the power come back to life. So in order for a person to be crucified for our sins, they need to be perfect, and after third day, they would rise again because that is what multiple prophecies stated in the bible. To a god death would mean nothing because he would have known that he could simply come back to life. As a human man, he was capable of dying like the rest of us and not coming back to life, so his sacrifice was pure and his cry to the Father to let the cup pass was heard and answered. Jesus survived the crucifixion through the will of our Heavenly Father. I respect your opinion, but I have to go with my own knowledge and sense.
