A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At it's core Jesus' gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification. Religion is man centered, Jesus is God-centered. This poem highlights my journey to discover this truth. Religion either ends in pride or despair. Pride because you make a list and can do it and act better than everyone, or despair because you can't do your own list of rules and feel "not good enough" for God. With Jesus though you have humble confident joy because He represents you, you don't represent yourself and His sacrifice is perfect putting us in perfect standing with God the Father.

When tragedy strikes, they either blame Satan or scapegoat groups of people they have been conditioned into hating (because they love them) such as gays, members of rival religions or the mythical "abortionists."

Hmm, of course it would actually be perfection, but I get what you are trying to say. To live your life striving to be perfect. Jesus was God, in human form. Are you trying to say that "if Jesus was God, him being crucified wouldnt be that big of a deal because hes well...God?" Although he is God, his experience on the cross would be as painful as if it happened to us, because he was also a man.Jesus has to be God, because the Father needed a man that was perfect and had no sin to be crucified.

He is more saying that we should be living our lives off the bible instead of what other people say. The bible talks about sin, it also talks about loving the church and loving the word of God. Jesus wasnt teaching religion, he was teaching Gods word.
