Singer-songwriter Alex Boyd made his television debut in "The Early Show on Saturday's" Second Cup Café performing his lead single "Light Up Tonight" off his debut CD "Commit Me."
@flavioflow - Nothing is 100 percent one way, however, that doesn't mean serious issue's don't need to be addressed. If you can't see the problems I mentioned which are very real that is truly unfortunate. Things can't be fixed unless problems are addressed. Much the same reason the US is in it's current situation, along with many places globally. Most people can't see how the system is a detriment to them, therefore they go along unknowingly doing the bidding for those who control them.
@antidote7 But I understand your comments more than I could want to. Despite of that, I can't see things as if they were mutually excludent. Take care. Greetings.
@antidote7 There are thousands of great frustrated artists, some of them are working and publishing material online whenever they can. But the visibility you're searching for is only given by those capitalists magnats who are manipulating the big channels and offerings. And what about the reasons people could like or disapprove anything? Have you realized that most people who gain quick success are not really into stimulating critical thinking? That's the species we are.
@antidote7@antidote7 I'm not disagreeing with you. But whenever we talk about big corporations it's inevitable to bring up political and sociological contexts which fundamentally sustain them. I mean, if you want a big record deal, you have to be subjected to the terms and conditions they offer in exchange. Or else you create your own label or try to live by it some other way.
@flavioflow : Let me add that I'm guessing you aren't aware that when record companies and radio stations test music they do not look for what people love, but what they are indifferent too. So it just becomes background music, sort of like wallpaper, and they won't change the channel because it's mostly subliminal. Staying on the channel is for increasing advertising dollars. Music has zero to do with advertising dollars except that it's being destroyed by it.
@flavioflow: This narrowing down of offerings (coercion and creating venues controlled by a minority of the wealthy), is limiting your democratic right to information and has created a population that is dumbed down. This is not just pertaining music sir. It's extremely important to understand that your comment " So what if most people are into shallow entertainment? ", is absurd! That mindset is an extreme detriment to the species and everything that comes in contact with our species.
@flavioflow - Your last comment shows you have no idea how the music business works, or any business for that matter. Access ( coercion :-( ) means everything, and it's been co-opted by greedy capitalists who's only care is the bottom line and putting art out that is so devoid of creativity that it can be enjoyed by someone who's 7 to 90 years old. I understand the system well so don't try and tell me all you have to do is not buy it, that's not my point. I wouldn't buy it any way.
@antidote7 dude, it's not because they are selling exhaustively a certain book, that the libraries only have it to offer. Don't buy it, don't watch it, spread the word about those unknown geniuses that you're familiarized. You see, amongst my physical albuns (I still buy them), there are artists from all around the world, of a plenty of genres, even independents - whose material I bought at their gigs. So what if most people are into shallow entertainment? If it's about what YOU like, go for it.
I am very chilled. And there isn't room for everyone because the industry only releases this type of stuff for the most part, the real artists are starving. and simple really doesn't have anything to do with it, I would depth should though. And my disdain in my comments was directed at the industry. I have nothing against this guy even though I don't like what he does, but I don't think this type of music should trump the vastness of what is out there and it certainly has.
So maybe you think we as a society should raise up mediocre hacks and push away the geniuses. Maybe we should do (often do) this in every field, doctors, building and bridge construction...
