This video shows how Clicker Training has helped Kim to teach Shoki to trot with his head down. Shoki has always been a very impulsive horse and traveled with his head high and back hollow. At 19 years old, he is finally learning how to use his body in a safer and more athletic way.
@kx232 i realize you asked this question a while ago but, questions deserve answers. the purpose of teaching him to move with his down will help him move in a healthier manner. when the horses head is up, it lowers the back. asking the horse to bring its head down while trotting teaches it to raise its back, tighten its abs and use its hindquarters properly. all of those things will keep the horse healthier and happier longer. in fact, i know a healthy 31 yr old draft who moves this way.

So, are you clicker training right now or treat training? Just curious because I would like to use this process with my horse. I just am not sure when to click. Excellent vid btw.

I'm just curious as to what the purpose of having your horse trot with his head down?
