Haiti has the lowest percentage of tree cover of any country in the Western Hemisphere. With a vision for a greener, more sustainable Haiti, Timberland and its partners, Yéle Haiti and Trees for the Future are launching Yéle Vert, a community based tree planting and agroforestry program. A community meeting with local farmers is the first step to establishing a Yéle Vert partnership. To date, Yéle Vert nurseries have been established in six communities in Gonaives, an area devastated by hurricanes.

  • i hink this is an amaing group to do this.

  • great to read about yele vert and see the videos.

i had a personal 13 year boycott of Timberland because of an old NYT article...and Schwartz distancing himself from people who were working and purchasing his products.

The fact that the company has been helping Haiti in such PRACTICAL ways, has caused me to drop the personal boycott.
