Most of you know that I am a certified respiratory therapist (by testing, not degree... yet) and well any CRT aught to have a great stethoscope to listen to lungs and hearts with. So I waited for a few weeks expecting nothing from AARC, the place that administers the test and PING there goes my E-Mail big time discount coupon for Littmann Cardiology III Stethoscopes, you think I took it or left it. I obviously took it by the horns, or should I say earpieces.

  • Very cool scope, I'm actually a bit jealous whenever I see it :D. I went with a Welch Harvey, and I like it, I just think the Cardio III is a bit more of a "sexy" scope as weird as that sounds.

So when you listen to your own lung sounds, how easily can you hear them? Whenever I try to do it on myself, I can hear my own breathing both through the scope, and through sound conductance through my body, and it throws me off. I haven't gotten to play doctor with others yet :/

  • @lonelyjew hehe yeah the cardio 3 is absolutely sooo attractive to see and touch. the touch of it on my neck is very calming love that its a weightier scope. yes breathing on your own and hearing your own breath sounds its dificult.

  • Hey whats ur thought on MDF stethoscopes i think model 747xp is an alternative to the littmann cardiology III

  • @FAW4D i used a MDF once. the sound is not as clear as on a littmann.

  • @alin0steglinski0 need to have the heater so that it stays humidified otherwise dry air is no good direct to trachea

  • @Tig0lBitties21 CO2 retention and problems with apnea episodes so i mainly use it in SIMV / CPAP

  • why do you have a trach? A heated LTM ventilator. Never seen it. Also I've never been in home care. BTW I'm a newly registered RT. Take it easy

  • @MyLovelyMarie I actually know about 3M and Littmann very well. 3M will NOT be changing any of the Littmann products branding however MAY decide to place a small 3M logo on the boxes and in marketing materials however the scopes will never be altered according to an older news release they made.

  • Yeah, these are beautiful scopes.... I do believe I made a post about the beautiful Littman "L" logo on my website... I wonder how long it'll before 3M starts changing things now that they own everything....

  • @deadpoetoftheyear hehehe yeah definitely. i absolutely love this thing.

yeah it is kind of spooky but its even spookier when you listen AND see ECG telemetry of the PVCs :P
