On a vacation up to a friend's house in north Georgia for a week back in June 2009, my father and I made several trips out to CSX's W&A Subdivision mainline out of Atlanta. The line was extremely busy nearly every time we visited it. This special release from S-Line Productions takes you to five unique locations along the southern portion of the old Western & Atlantic right-of-way. You'll see trains and power of all sorts, including CSX, BNSF, and Canadian Pacific. You'll also catch coal trains, manifest trains, intermodal trains, and a CSX track geometry car! So enjoy the sights and sounds of CSX mainline action in north Georgia!

  • Hello. I have a few questions regarding the W&A sub.

    1) about how many trains pass in a 5 hour period?

    2) Is there common forgein power/conrails/ rare engines etc.

    3) Is this a "good" line to fan at? Thanks

    kyle

  • @KyleVideoDesigns I don't know a lot about the line but I think I can give you a good general answer:

    1) Not really sure how many in 5 hours, but I would estimate 50-60 trains a day. They tend to come in clumps, though. So you could sit for hours and see nothing or sit for minutes and see a bunch.

    2) Foreign power is fairly common and the locos mainly consist of GE widecabs, but I've seen some cool stuff on the line.

    3) It's a great line to fan at!

  • Great video! Nice catches on the BNSF & CP stuff especially! BNSF power on CSX rails down here is very rare. CP used to run thru trains down here every now and then but now they swap power in Corbin,KY and run the CP power back north unfortunately for us in the south. Good stuff once again!

  • @guitars14 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Excellent work Evan! That's right, a little rain wont hurt you! lol. Nice video.

  • @cobras84robinjd Thanks, Joe! Yep, but it almost ruined my scanner lol.
