This is Part One: Layout, Sketching, and Wording!
I start out with a composition notebook full of script and thumbnails. The script was written ages ago and is 100% complete by the time I start a story so I don't run the risk of writing myself into a hole. After the story is done I thumbnail out the pages, usually a chapter at a time, so I can see the approximate size of the story and how it flows. I might change my mind at the last minute and do something different when the time comes, though. This page, for example, was condensed from two pages because I thought the pacing was too slow.
Most of this video shows my cintiq screen, and the other screen is full of reference photos, past pages, and character sheets that I look at while I draw to make sure everything is staying the way I want it. I switch to the main computer screen when I put the words on the page in Illustrator (the only step of the process that I don't do in Photoshop).
