On August 18th, 2009 Seattle residents will vote on a fee to reduce pollution caused by disposable shopping bags. The nearly one trillion plastic and paper bags produced every year are strangling our oceans and trashing the environment. Three hundred million bags are used annually in Seattle alone. But Big Oil and the chemical lobby are heavily invested in this toxic product and have launched an all out attack on our effort to clean up our city. We want to give consumers a choice instead of forcing them to use a harmful product just to protect corporate profits. Help us fight back by donating today!

  • i hate this shit it's all propaganda, paper and plastic ftw!!!

  • Unfortunately people are still drop their plastic bags here and there.

  • News flash, green bags spread disease, how?

When the users fail to properly clean or take care of their bags.

Raw meat blood stains, moisture and other factors play a role.

  • We used plastic bags because we were going to recycle

We stopped using biodegradeable paper bags because of deforestation.

We are now using Greenbags which will get torn up in a few years and thrown in a land fill.

Why are we doing this again? Maybe if the hippies recycled in the first place.

    You god damn hipocrits.

  • but most people don't think about the fact that these bags take 10 to 20 years to decay, in the mean time were adding trillions of bags a year to the problem. The bag tax forces people to either pay to help with that clean up or other things related too, or force them buy green bags made of different materials such as hemp, cotten and so forth, avoiding using bags all together. i work for walmart and just one coustomer can use up to 10 plastic bags a visit...they could cut that down to none!

  • Marybeth, exactly how long does it take a plastic bag to decompose in the Puget Sound?

  • Amazing how people are suckered into this nonsense considering there is more land for our use then ever, scientists are constantly finding new ways to make trash packed in smaller and discovering ways to make it decompose faster. While all of us can agree recycling is important it is stupid to tax if we just simply plastic grocery bags. Besides the government is no better at being green.

  • Awesome! Thank you. Great information. I hope hundreds of millions of people see this.

  • Well done! I'm passing the link on to friends and family, because even if we can't donate, this video is a helpful reminder to remember to use those reusable bags whenever possible.

  • Go green bag campaign!! Great video!
