Days 10-11 of my water fast experience!!
March 15th 2010 (Guam is a day ahead of the states)
TOPICS:
Fatigue
Heart Rate
Weight loss progress

This is my first water fast although I have done a master cleanse and juice feasting in the past. When I break my 30 day fast I will do three days of orange juice and watermelon, four days of juicy fruits, and then following with the 80-10-10 lifestyle (raw vegan foods - high fruit, some veggies and nuts).

I have researched this topic extensively but I am not an expert. Any and all comments, suggestions, opposing views are welcome. Please ask any questions and if I don't know the answer I will find it. If you express opposing views please have proof/source to back it up preferably from a doctor as I have links below outlining the benefits of fasting by doctors.

  • did you feel tired at all was your energy level basically up? also if a person is relatively thin but wants to lose 15 pounds would you recommend water fasting?

  • @traceymallard Each day was different, even each hour :) Energy levels vary greatly and you just need to work with it rather than forcing the fast. Depends what thin means...I mean do you have 15lbs of fat to lose? If so then you could fast but if you run out of fat you will enter starvation mode. So ensure you monitor for hunger to return and break the fast if it does even if you haven't gotten to 15lbs. Hope this helps!!

  • how much water do u drink a day?? well done by the way, you are such an inspiration!

  • @kalliski1 I pretty much drank water when I was thirsty. The amount turned out to be roughly a gallon daily which is what I should be drinking for my body weight. I really just went by thirst & color of urine - keeps it simple :)

  • 9000 cals?

    is that for real?

you actually burn that much every single day in a fast?

    or were you doing exercise?

  • @sokewt Well I exaggerated a litle bit. During the first week I lost 17.6 lbs which is about 2.5lbs/day (further into the fast the weight loss slows) 2.5 times 3500calories/lb is 8800calories. So a little under 9k. You lose rapidly in the first week due to metabolism, intestinal buildup, and water weight - but hey isn't that the same in any diet/improvement in lifestyle. No I wasn't exercising other than the one day I did yoga.

  • I'm on day 11 and I am fatigued all the time. I've lost 28 lbs so far, so a little fatigue has been worth it. I will say though that I would not reccomend fasting for anyone who can avoid it. The detox symptoms and fatigue are HELL. Its much easier and more sane to eat very small meals throughout the day and excercise regularly for weight loss. The only reason I started this fast is because I was 100 lbs overweight and really needed an emotional momentum boost to break out of this weight range.

  • @sharanjitdeep You are actually supposed to be drinking half your body weight in ounces, so if you weight 140 lbs, you should be drinking 70 ounces of water, and that is a daily amount not just a fast amount, so she's right man.

  • @sharanjitdeep : it's actually half your body weight in ounces. She is right about what she is drinking, and we are supposed to be drinking that much on a regular basis.

  • You are supposed to dring 8 glasses or 8 water bottles minimum.
