Veteran Firefighters In Trouble After Rookie Prank Caught On Tape!

MACON, Ga. - Some Georgia firefighters could be in serious trouble after a prank turned into a frightening situation for those not in on the joke.

Video of the incident, shot by veteran Macon-Bibb County firefighters Sunday night and posted on YouTube Monday, spread like wildfire across the country through various firefighting organizations.

In the video, entitled "Rookie Prank," a masked man bursts into a room waving a gun. People drop to the floor and screaming is heard.

At one point the video shows a man being dragged off camera and what sounds like a gun shot is heard.

The prank was staged by some veteran firefighters in front of some rookies who apparently weren't in on it.

Fire Chief Marvin Riggins immediately launched an investigation after seeing the video. A spokesman says he was disappointed that any of his guys would be involved in something like this, and he vowed to take disciplinary action.

FOX 5 tried to talk to some of the people involved in the video, but their shift had ended.

Macon resident Bob McCormick couldn't believe that happened inside the fire station just down the street.

"If my guys that work for me did something like that, they wouldn't have a job," McCormick said.

Other residents of Macon said it was a dangerous and bad idea.

"The rookies could have grabbed something...a weapon to neutralize the threat...They are..first responders, I would think that they'd react that way," said Marty Avera.

"They shouldn't have done that, they're going to get in trouble. Big trouble," Spencer Crosby said.

It wasn't hard for city officials to figure out who was involved -- at the end of the video was a list of names of the players, which included a sergeant and a captain.

Wow, whoever orchestrated this prank is a complete moron. I am all for pranks in the firehouse because it's part of the culture, but c'mon, this is completely unacceptable.

I'm all for pranks at the station, that's something that a part of being a firefighter. I do think this could have been really bad had one them had a serious health condition! I'm all for fun but not like this. I think it's all about knowing when too much is too much.
