IF this were true why wouldn't we demand all people to use food stamps? Answer: because it IS NOT TRUE.

@macsnafu Welfare does stimulate the economy. It is a transfer of wealth from the rich to the lower classes and it should encouraged. And the amount of wealth transferred is actually compounded by 1.8X the original amount. That 80% increase is the stimulus they are talking about.

What he really means is that every dollar of snap benefits sucks $1.84 out of the private economy and redirects it to somewhere else in the economy. Thus, this is a net loss, not a net gain.

I think food stamps should be abolished. Everyone in need should get cash on the barrelhead: $525 + rent + universal health care. If one is not willing to get a job within three years they should receive food stamps again (only upon condition that they are employable, of course).
