the "free" USA has more people in prison than any other country on the face of the planet and 80% of those people are in for drug crimes. We're doing something wrong here i think thats obvious. Is spending 30,000 - 80,000 a year of our tax $'s on keeping someone who sells pot locked up and turning them into even worse people than they were already the thing to do? Sure alot of people deserve to be locked up but not the ludicrous amounts of citizens we stick in prison here in the good ole USA!

@ITHEREONETHATHASNT read this article. Womens go to prison for less serious crimes, check the statistics, they go for drugs smuggling most of the time, for fdrug related offenses. Its says here men are ten times more likely to commit murder:

Here in the UK Mens jails are so much better equiped. Women are forced to share with teenage girls despite age difference. Whilst teenage boys don't have to share with adult men. Their jails are shit whilst mens jails are state of the art :

this is s.c.I Cambridge springs..it is prison..violent incidents do happen there!!!..there are DEFINETLY LIFERS THERE!!!

Looks of prisons are deceiving..they don't tell the whole story..PRISON IS PRISON!!!

I think these prisoners will have a better chance at being productive when they're release (if they ever are) because they're being treated with dignity. Treating someone like an animal makes them act like one and I don't want a caged animal back on the streets so they can hurt someone again.

@MrMakavellii I don't know if the prisons that they show on t.v. are typical but it seems as though each one is different.

@fabmeeme What about education to equip the inmates with a skill when they are set free? I used to live in Watts in California and have always been appalled at the huge number of felons who did not get their g.e.d.s or have a job skill. Their numbers are ridiculous. It would be terrible to "free" someone with no way to support their families.
