@xXlemurspwnXx They stop moving because the rubbing of the fingers across the ampullae of Lorenzini (electro-receptive sensory organs). This does NOT happen due to lack of oxygen. Just some sharks have to keep moving to breathe. There are many species of sharks that have the ability to pump oxygenated water over their gills. Carcharhinus perezi can remained in the caves for hours at a time, actively respiring by pumping water over their gills 20 to 28 times per minute.

This isn't anything new, this has been known for many years.

You can do a similar thing to many animals especially cats and dogs and horses. just slowly and light stroke the bridge of a dog or cats nose from tip to top of the head slowly with your fingertip and they'll get daze out.

@MISTtumbles Your lack of knowledge about what is happening is abysmal. The shark does not die, it gets out of tonic and keeps swimming. These sharks breathe while stationary.
