  • Will be good. Been in them a few times already though even when the organ is playing (with ear defenders of course).

I helped Kevin a bit in the early stages when he was installing it back in early 2006. My how time flies, doesn't feel like 5 years ago since we first started it!

  • @ceredigio There's two tunes on that book, the one you've mentioned and before it is 'South of the Border'. Both were arranged by Arthur Prinsen.

  • @ceredigio At this year's Dorset i heard a medley (i think it was at least!) on this organ that included 'deep in the heart of Texas', is that a Clarke and Watts book?

  • @ceredigio The front,Trumpets and Trombones are Wellershaus, the rest was built in Holland but i don't know by who,the ex. Barrett organ is now owned by Johnny Ling who is rebuilding it.

  • @petermackett37 The Nash organ says 'Wellershaus' on the front, but it is not a Wellershaus at all!! What is its true history? The Wellershaus at Thursford is one of the few genuine Wellershaus organs in the UK as is the 54 key organ formerly owned by the late Dennis Barrett of Norwich (where is that one nowadays?)

  • @ceredigio Just to let you know, the '2nd waltz' book is only about 3 years old. The 'staining' you see on it is the varnish that is used to protect the holes from wear and tear.

  • @ceredigio Jan Kees started arranging in the 1980's as far as i know,I will ask him when i see him, yes, the arangement is the same as the Nash organ.

  • @petermackett37 I think The Second Waltz is by Shostakovich. How long has Jan Kees been marking books?, the one playing there looks rather stained! When I was at Dorset I saw them putting in a book that judging by its appearance looked like a rather old one, perhaps even a Marenghi book, it had an arrow painted at the start to make sure it was put in correctly lol! The arrangement of 'Down Forget-me-not lane' sounds similar (though not identical) to the one on Chris Nash's 60 key street organ.

  • @StuartMulcrow Will show you round the ones at the museum if we end up having a recording weekend there some time or something ! Quite clean and airy chambers, so easy to walk into :P

  • @LanchesterEarlyMusic YEs we have Oktoberfest there with stage.

Will be a pleasure to take you round the organ line up, would love a tour round a Wurlitzer one day though. :-P
