  • Scan it and make the book available to the fans !

I would be breaking the copyright law. I do not know why they just do not re-publish it.

  • That looks like a good remembrance jogger of times gone by. The Virgin Prunes must have slipped past my radar because I didn't hear about them until much later on. Could well be that they weren't all that recognised in the London area as they were in Dublin, either that or the fact my radar was faulty and didn't listen to John Peel that often.

  • @MaverickMediaUK

There were much bigger in Europe than in the UK. They supported The Clash on their Irish Tour in 79 and ended up getting signed to European agency where they did most of their touring. They were decades ahead of the time. The original guitar player Dik is the brother of the Edge from U2 although he left the Prunes in the early 80's.

  • Thomas.... they were a splodge of color in a gray area at a very gray time. Brilliantly subversive, amazingly creative and scared the crap outta the neighbourhood.

When I listen to Yeo today all I hear is Hatch 57, the sweaty upstairs of a 19a, chocolate mice, poker machines, Red Witches and 5 spots wrapped in tin foil.

By the way.... I really like your work. It's beautiful and it looks like you're another sploge of creative color.

    Cheers,

    Ciaran

  • Ciaran. some friends of mine invited me to a protest for the National Day of the Arts at the Dail and I and recalled the 1980's when long before the Celtic Tiger Ireland had a thriving arts scene and no money. I declined as I am old enough to remember that you can create great art in Ireland without tax payer funded certain cliques/QUANGO keeping their funding.

If you have a pen and paper, you can art. All you need is imagination and creativity as the Prunes book reminded me other night Thanks.

  • Wonderful book, indeed!

I gave it as a gift to myself for Christmas 1986.

The walls of my room were all paved with pictures I copied out of the book.
