Power for the demonstration sawmill at Fort Missoula is provided by a 1916 80hp Case steam traction engine, owned by Marvin Troutwine. Before sawing could begin, the engine would need to be belted up, the belt running to the sawmill to provide the power. Due to a slipping clutch, the first attempt resulted in nothing but a learning experience for it's 26 year old engineer.
