it takes balls to stand within arms length of a klingon and chastise them

Avery commands such a presence no matter what role he plays. A phenomenal actor.

"If you have a case of two men drawing their weapons against each other — or a situation in which someone is likely to be killed — that is the wrong kind of action. We can find our action in all sorts of arguments and dangers that don’t involve death."
--Gene Roddenberry (creator of the stun setting), during his 1991 interview with The Humanist

"We don't put civilians at risk or even potentially at risk to save ourselves. Sometimes, that means we lose the battle and sometimes our lives, but if you can't make that choice, then you can't wear that uniform."
--Captain Sisko
... when our real life armed forces adhere to such a heroic standard, the world will be a much better place and I'll finally be able to celebrate the Fourth of July ...

kailmek, suck my big black cock ... Knock out gas usage instead of bombarbment, asshole! As in, doN'T bomb a town with civilians! I NEVER said a damn thing about one plane against another.
"you can't regulate what the opponent would have"
No shit, but SO WHAT? If you want to be called a hero (as those in the armed forces do), then such status must first be EARNED and going up against tremendous odds will do the trick. Besides, if you knock someone out, it doesN'T matter WHAT they're armed with.

By the way, Vietnam and Iraq were both based on LIES (Gulf of Tonkin, Weapons of Mass Destruction), so having "a lot of your people dieing for absolutely nothing," as you put it, is NOTHING new. At least MY way they die with HONOR.

@TheGreenVoter The problem with such an idea is simple: you can't regulate what the opponent would have.
If your forces take to the field of battle with non-lethal weaponry when their opponents are packing lethal weapons will just result in a lot of your people dieing for absolutely nothing.
And that's ignoring your idiocy regarding knock-out gas usage in aerial combat. How are you going to get that into the opponent's cockpit, and then, how the fuck is he supposed to land when he's out cold?
-
"Vast improvement," my black ass! A vast improvement would be limiting the armed forces to NON-lethal weaponry (Can we say stun setting?). Knock out gas instead of bombs during aerial combat, and so forth.
STOP.
Letting.
Them.
Off.
The.
Hook.

@TheGreenVoter Officially, yes but collateral damage from US airstrikes alone in Iraq were in the thousands and even the surgical drone strikes have caused about 50 civilian fatalities although this is in comparison to about a thousand enemy combatant kills over 10 years, which is a vast improvement.
Am i the only one who watched this clip while thinking "hot DAMN that's a lot of bass!"??

Thank you for posting this. I think Sisko is at his best when he is trying to convery his beliefs to his crew in a scolding way like at 1:15 "You're damned right you should have checked!" He just comes across so intense it is so dramatic.
