Call me old school, Stuck in the past, old timer, Whatever. I just can't stand Gnome 3.xx I can navigate faster, and easier with the old Gnome. Which Is what I am using. I like the looks better too.

@sdperez79 There are frontends to the built-in kernel firewall Iptables. I haven't explored them yet.

@scorici Debian stable is allegedly "frozen" which is why it might seem old to you, and yet another reason why many debian people jerk from stable to Sid and Testing trying to get satisfaction. Yes, stable is a bit outdated, although you can still update it using variaty of methods and its still quite reliable i must tell ya. But yeah, i really had hard times setting it up having just unbelieavable kind of issues.Still, it's the only OS so far i can use.Next to Debian is opensuse for me

@Gugamon29 Hehe, glad to see another customer pleased with gnome3. I'm not using Arch as my main OS, I'm using Mint, that's because I can't get my printer to work with Arch and because I'm still in the gnome2 land and don't want to leave it.I use Isadora, based on Ubuntu 10.04 and I don't like Ubuntu but I like Debian even though it has some rough edges. Debian CUT might be my next OS but I was to lazy too check how it's doing so far, Debian stable it's to old for me.

@scorici Word up. I can't say i like Arch, i'm using Debian, but that Gnome 3 sucker really gets me. I hope i find some alternative before Gnome 2 dies completely.

I should put up a new video of my desktop. Arch's wiki got changed around, so some things are harder to change (i.e. the "no bluetooth" extension is gone). I wish there were a centralized repository for all current extensions. Ubuntu has webupd8's ppa, but that's about it. Even so, if you're using Arch, you should be used to tweaking.

can it launch the shell from clicks on the desktop, and any mouse corner? i recall the top-left activation always feeling very laborious whenever i tried it, but its probably a simple thing to fix..

@walter0bz There's an extension for the top-right hot corner. I'm not sure of any others, though.

Would you recommend this for an old(ish) machine? Ran Ubuntu 11.04 fine without many hiccups.

@ZacharyGretzinger Definitely. LXDE would run great.
