This is from The Last Samurai. I have no words to describe it but I feel it as one of the best movie scenes I have seen in a while... I believe for obvious reasons :)

I really really miss movies like this. It used to be that at the end of the movie the two characters who had fallen in love through the course of the movie would finally kiss. Now, it seems like they always end up having sex, as if a kiss isn't good enough or isn't enough proof or something. A scene like this has 10x more romance and passion than any sex scene in any movie.

@Sitti2300 But Algren is American, and Americans did kiss, and if you watch it, he initiates the kiss and she goes along with it. I thought it was perfect, she shows her love and respect through a means of her culture, and then he shoes his love and respect through a means of his culture. I thought it was great.

This is probably one of the best love scenes I've ever seen, and it's just so understated compared to virtually everything else you get from Hollywood. Just one small kiss and hardly any physical contact, and they still managed to make this scene so incredibly tender and passionate. I guess less really is more.

(I feel like I've lost some masculinity by describing this :L oh well)

I think the director had a mistake at kissing 2:10. Back then in Japanese culture, they didn't kiss. Kiss became common after WW2.
