Today, we want to talk about a new thing here at National Instruments called NI Labs. The concept of websites having a "lab" has become fairly popular lately. The idea is that the lab will offer things that show off some new and untried technologies BEFORE they are actually ready for prime time. The idea is that companies put stuff out there and see what people think of it before investing a ton of resources into making it perfect. One of the lab sites I have used over the past year is the Adobe Labs site that gives you glimpses at cool new multimedia technology they are working on.
The NI Labs site is similar to other lab sites in that it offers cool new things that are not available anywhere else. What it says on the page is, "NI Labs showcases the evolving technologies from National Instruments R&D engineers that aren't quite ready for release. These virtual research labs offer you the chance to download and work with cutting-edge developments, offer product feedback, get answers to your questions, and learn about recent successes and struggles."
In other words, it is worth checking out if you are a big fan of cutting edge stuff and don't mind using something that isn't technically released. Here is the video of Jeff giving us a tour:
