We ask Smith & Wesson what a new shooter might want to choose as a CCW firearm.
They recommend the Bodyguard .38 or Bodyguard .380

  • dose anybody know if smith and wesson or anybody els has made extended mags for this gun yet ?

  • @fitsport07931

not that I am aware of

  • Not reliable and crap laser. Should have worked something out with Crimson Trace's auto-pad activation.

  • @MrSHIZZLE4u

I know at least a half dozen people who own these, and I have not heard one of them complain about reliability.. what research do you cite for this claim?

  • What's the reason for the laser "pulse"?

  • @IronMongoose1

    to attract the eye faster

  • @rolpher

YOU have these issues, not the gun..

Sounds like you think you expect to find a gun that 'shoots straight' for you.. or should I say.. in spite of your bad habits / lack of skill

Bad mouth the gun all day, but you are the one missing, not the pistol

  • its good that the old gun still works

  • @GunWebsites I have no current data to present at this moment in time. GOD BLESS.

  • dose anybody know if sw or some off brand makes a extended mag for this gun like a 10 round like the ruger lcp and if so where are they ?

  • wow I'm getting wailed on my posts! i shot about 200 rounds through it and the trigger didn't seem to lighten with use. I think that the main problem is poor engineering on the trigger spring, it needs to be about half the weight that it is. I found, and do find, that the first shot tends to go wide because of the initial trigger pull, I just can't seem to get used to it. I do love the integrated laser and the gun is comfortable in the hand.

  • @rolpher All miss the first shot? I have seen many reviews on this weapon and i have put a few hundred rounds through mine. I have never heard this complaint from anyone else, nor do I have a problem on the first shot. The trigger is stiff and long (as with most DAO 380s) but I still do not understand why you would have a problem with the first round and not the other 6... Only explanation I can think of is user error. If the gun is not right for you, thats fine, just dont make up a BS excuse.

  • .380 isn't a powerful round, however my .357 is a lot less powerful sitting at home because I can't wear a coat to conceal it... Shoot a watermelon with .380 and then tell me it's worthless. The laser was difficult to activate however I YouTubed a way to beef up the button and now it is very easy!! Placed about 30-40 shots inside head of torso target (including first shot) at about 7 yds without a single miss. So there!
