  • u catn't! take a photo!!!

    This photograph was taken with the permission of the Nichiren Shu Temple that owns it. The image was shared with me by the photographer. The mandala is an artist's reproduction of the Kito honaon / Prayer Gohonzon. Not all of Nichiren Buddhism forbids photographs of the Mandala Gohonzon. Taisekiji Nichiren Shoshu is the only one I know of.

  • @ollie370: It is NOT ok to make photos, or videos for that matter, of the Gohonzon! For your information, it is a guideline, sort of rule, that dates back to the beginning of Soka Gakkai and therefore also the SGI. it is out of respect of the depiction of you highest life state. Also know as your Buddha state. Another reason why you can't take photo or videos of the gohonzon is that it still is the fundamental object of worship (honzon) .

    I hope I have cleared some things for you.

  • Wow! I have been chanting since 1970...that's like 40 years or something...I know for sure that we were always told not to take a picture of the Gohonzon...and to post it on the internet...a little disturbing...what has become of the true law? Namu means devotion...myhoho...true law ...renge ....simultaneous cause and effect....kyo....through sound.(chanting)

  • The Universe, according to Buddha, is governed by one single umbrella law based on the science and rhythm of cause and effect, and he said that mankind would eventually prove this.

    This law which should be chanted by the human voice is called;

    Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.

    By chanting aloud every day for at least 10 minutes, one can put oneself into perfect rhythm with the Universe, and therby gain insights, wisdom, energy, happiness and benefits that would be otherwise not be available to us.

  • @nichibek Don't accept their criticism nichibek...just keep doing what you're doing and BE FREE from RELIGIOUS DOCTRINE AND AUTHORITY. DO WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART -- PEACE NMRKYO !!

  • @lovex13doll THEY CAN AND THEY DID!!

  • @buddha01meister You have not cleared anything for me. The superstition that photography "steals" the spirit of persons or objects is a myth that is MUCH older than the SGI, it is as old as photography and is promoted in many parts of asia.. The SGI is promoting an old myth. Meister, study Nichiren Buddhism from different perspectives. If you rely on the SGI only, you will have a evangelical perspective only, and your practice will be compromised. Did I clear this up for you?
