Many years ago, before there were webcams, I made this little test animation with an old VHS video camera, by pressing the start/stop button rapidly in an effort to capture as few frames per shot as possible.
I wanted to make a longer movie, but I didn't want to do the effort if it wasn't going to work, so I had made this short as a "screen test".
Each shot recorded from 2 to 7 frames (very inconsistent), and the first and last frame of each shot was badly distorted (a feature of VHS), so there was a lot of flikkering, lost frames, etc. The quality really sucked, but that's all I had to work with.
This is the digitally remastered version; I tried to get the best frame from each shot and adjusted the length of each to try to get a smoother animation. Once again, I used this test clip to test my remastering techniques. Not sure it was worth the effort, but I'm now remastering the longer movie I had made, which I'll upload later.
For some reason the sound has gone out of sync when I uploaded it. Does anybody know how to avaoid this?

  • But if you have any questions you can find my contact info on my channel. And also if you like balloon instructions I have 64 videos and they are pretty cool I think.

  • Hi HappyCabbie. I am very sorry that you had to go to all that trouble to try and help me, I really am. And I think it is a shame that I had to shut down yet another great communication tool because of spam. The problem is that for every legitimate message I get through YouTube, I get 189 spam messages (this is the actual figure - I calculated it from messages I got in the 4 months prior to disabling it). Some community, eh? I'm forced to keep my doors locked.

  • How on earth did the sound get out of sync? The video I uploaded plays perfectly!

  • awesome

  • Wow, I know what you mean I get plenty on my MySpace Page but for some reason I dont get any on YouTube. Maybe they haven't found me yet.

  • Then play the whole thing over again for final tweeking. You can use your zoom in buttons on the scroll bar to do even more precise dragging. Now I don't want to put my phone number here in the comments section but I did leave it in my email which I cannot send because you have a message blocker on.

  • Now play the video in your editor and find any other sections that are out of sync. If you find them split the clip on the second video track and then drag the clip until it lines up again with the video. Repeat this process until complete.

  • Now mute the video on the video track and then drag the video on the track on the bottom until the sound syncs up. See what you have now is a video with muted audio and an audio clip with no video.

  • Now what I do is lay down a second video track below the music and sound effect tracks. Do not put this in the video overlay track because then you will have two video clips playing at once. If you but the second video track below the other stuff only the top

    video will play.

  • I am assuming you know basic editing techniques with a movie editor but in case you don't I shall try to be descriptive as I can. For the record I use Sony Vegas movie editor. First place your video in the video track section. Now play the video and determine if your video is ahead or behind your audio. Mine is usually ahead by about a half a second.

  • Sorry for the multiple comments here but you have enabled a friend lock meaning you cannot receive messages and this is the only way I can answer the question posted in the video description. FYI I spent 20 minutes typing out a detailed message only to be told I cant send it to you. But anyway here is how to

    sync up the audio.
