I have flown R22, R44, Bell 206B, 206L, and 407 and we never do emergency procedures with passengers. Also guys like this are the ones that start to feel real confident in the helicopter and start to get complacent. When you start showing off like this is when you need to reevaluate your flying behavior. If you want to do this at an airfield SOLO then so be it.

Many comments from people who never flew helicopter. I think you can do that with military helicopter and be safe but doing this with R44 is suicide ( sooner or later) the R44 is very gentle helicopter and the engine is not so powerfull ..

Dictionary definition of complacency should be a link to this.

Errr... Wah?

@Rotorhead99 that is one of the most ignorant things I have read about helicopter pilots. Modern military pilots have a pretty bad rep in the civilian market. Everyone assumes that military pilots have to be good, but it really depends on the airframe they came from.

Good skills, but skill doesn't mean you have the right to pull off stunts like that, especially with a passenger. Save it for a solo flight so that only one idiot is taken out of the gene pool.

@hrobins4 There are old pilots and bold pilots, lets hope this clown doesn't take anyone else with him.

I am a Helicopter Flight Instructor-Instrument certified to instruct in the R44, so I thought people would want to hear my opinion. There is an elastic clause in the FAA regulations that prohibit "reckless or dangerous" operation of aircraft so as to "endanger the life or property of another. Having passengers on board makes the regulation apply. Turned the tail into the golf-cart, and landed the opposite direction as he took off. And that wasn't a particularly good full-down. In bad taste.

Shut up. I have flown with this pilot many times and today was one of them. He is an amazing pilot and he knows what he is doing. Alot of people are up hear talking shit about the man but have never been 100 yards from a helicopter. If you don't like his style of flying, shut the hell up and move on.

I'm sure the F.A.A. would love to know what this guy was thinking about!

and I wouldn't be too worried about his passengers. 44's are built for crashing.
