the acela trainset is very advanced can tilt run at 240kmph on ordinary tracks or 320kmph on high speed rail.unfortunately the boston-washington line is 19th century,congested and with very old overhead wires so...
they were planning to replace the entire section of track but those plans got shelved soon after acela was bought.

I actually went on one of these back in 2003 from Guangzhou -> Hong Kong
Definitely faster than the DF type train which I took the opposite way.
