Fixing the Acekard 2i to get around the Nintendo DSi 1.4 firmware block. New firmware is located here: http://www.mediafire.com/?1xquh1ymjjx We used a DS Lite to update the firmware and then it worked on the DSi.

All that's required to perform this update is a few minutes with either a DSLite, regular DS, or DSi that is at version 1.3 or below. I'm not associated with the Acekard team. I'm only a customer showing what I used to fix the Acekard. I give no guarantees that these procedures will work for you.

If you do have troubles with the update, check your microSD card and make sure all of the OS files are in place correctly. Maybe try reformatting and reloading the data on your microSD. Some people have reported that "fake" Acekards have been sold and may not work with this update. If you can't get your Acekard to work after this firmware update and you've checked your microSD card, I know of no way to bring it back to life. I would recommend getting a new one. I got mine from DealExtreme.com for around $13. So it's pretty cheap to replace. Although it takes a while to ship it from China. I can say from my experience that DealExtreme is a reputable retailer and I received and Acekard that worked with this update. I did see a comment that one person had gotten an Acekard from DealExtreme and it got messed up when he tried to do this update. I think he said he interrupted the update process, which is a sure way of bricking your Acekard. Anyway, DealExtreme did agree to replace his Acekard.

I bought the Acekard for my 7 year old son. My main reason for getting it was that he tends to lose the games and I wanted to create a backup copy so he didn't have to keep swapping his games in and out.

I'm also using this experience to teach my son a little about right and wrong. I explained to him that some people use the Acekard to download games off the internet and not pay for them. I'm not going to pass judgment on anyone but we're copying games he owns onto it. I told him that Nintendo and the game developers want to be paid for their work and the only way they see to keep getting paid is to block things that might be used to steal games. He said "Why doesn't Nintendo make something to just copy games. Then we'd buy it". From the mouths of babes. Well, he's 7.

  • Will it delete all my files?

  • @kevin989able No. But would highly recommend backing up all of the data on your microSD periodically anyway just in case it's lost or corrupted somehow.

You may need to update the OS version on your microSD before or after doing this fix.

  • Do you have to have another ds to be able to update the acekard? Beacause I only have 1 Dsi. Please Help. :-)

  • @poogieh69 Ask your friends or your friends friends if you could just borrow their DS for a few minutes. Maybe try going to your favorite game store and ask to try a DS while you upgrade your card. It doesn't change anything on the DS, just the firmware on the Acekard.

  • unfortunatly dident work for me did everything as shown and shows the acekard as danny phantom on my dsi but still wont load it :(

  • @DragonlordRock863rd Try updating the AKAIO OS software on your microSD card. I had to do that when going to the latest firmware.
