(French version -- http://www.greenpeace.org/ogm)
Genetic engineering is a threat to food security, especially in a changing climate. The introduction of genetically manipulated organisms by choice or by accident grossly undermines sustainable agriculture and in so doing, severely limits the choice of food we can eat.

Once GE plants are released into the environment, they are out of control. If anything goes wrong - they are impossible to recall.

GE contamination threatens biodiversity respected as the global heritage of humankind, and one of our world's fundamental keys to survival.

The point is there is no real evidence from independent studies that they are indeed safe which the FDA had required before Monsanto executives were appointed to head up the FDA. - in fact, quick internet search will show there are independent studies that are coming out (and getting no media coverage) that indicate they can lead to intestinal disorders and fertility issues. It should be up to them to prove they are safe with long-term independent studies - not the other way around.

We don't need to work hard to produce evidence for you, its already done for us, use google genius and stfu about a LACK of evidence. Dr David Suzuki is a geneticist and only one of MANY who talk about the fact that its TOO SOON to play in the open with GENETICS for we LACK enough DATA. Understand this shit or step out of the equation. Thank you

Isn't that first line what Monsanto said covertly?

Understand that just because your argument isn't the normative does NOT mean it is truth.

While I wholeheartedly agree that we lack the data to fuck around with our planets DNA, I completely disagree that it hasn't made a great profit of food.

I also agree that they are assholes for making better crops with KNOWN side-effects, I do not believe that GMOs are not the way to go.

With more effort, we could make the dream GMOs without side effects.

So... basically when you give a plant some genetic trait in fish... that it causes no problem? Sure, crossbreeding has been quiet common, one it takes a long time and two it is natural. Many of these products are extremely unnatural and cause many problems which for some reason have been overlooked by the agencies that are supposed to bring them to light... why is that?

Cross-breeding and Natural Selection are not Genetic Bio-Engineering / Gene Splicing which disregards species barriers, integrating viruses and toxins to create entirely new "man"ipulated gene sequences.
