It's got potential. LOL I don't know how many times I've said that looking at some rusted out hunk. Well, it almost runs, and the leaf springs aren't rusted through yet. Maybe some new metal and a little paint and it'll be alright. 2 years later... what the heck was I thinking?!

@whereispg ~Mark's in a good mood 99% of the time. He talks to strangers everywhere he goes and enjoys life. He travels in a 5th wheel towed by a F150 truck along with his dogs.

I am thinking about getting me a diesel however - just for the exact same reasons you did, to have some plan B for when the SHTF and being able to drive it on veg oil.

I did buy me a Toyota Landcruiser '81 this spring, a car that is 30 years old and therefore tax-free here in Sweden. It has a 4.0 L 6-cyl diesel and runs very well on waste cooking oil that I get from nearby restaurants.

But - its not a VW.

I got a relapse after some years and got me a '88 VW T3 Transporter that I converted into a camper with pop-top roof, later sold it because I found a '89 VW T3 Syncro which is 4wd and had a high-roof.Now my love affair with the VW bus continues, and I have a small collection of Syncros.

I fell in love with the VWs as a youngster (now I'm 45), my first car was a VW beetle '69, and I have since had two more beetles and two '69 VW buses and then I got lost "in the matrix" a few years.

@JeffTheCanuck2 Dart Valiant same car nice. Yeah the 225 slant 6 dodge and the inline 300 ford are the 2 best motors ever built period. You cannot kill either of them take much abuse and keep still ticking. My vailiant is a push button automatic and its a gift for wife who turns 40 this year.
